Typical programme : Sand dunes- A-level Biology and A-level Geography

Aim - to investigate species distribution and abundance at Braunton Burrows  and relate to succession and management (aerial view of transect)
         
Meet at Braunton Burrows Sandy lane car park c.10.00pm

Introduction to Braunton Burrows
Walk to beach ( c. 1.5km) : en-route-
Succession, management and conservation of a sand dune system, xerophytic adaptations, species identification

Lunch 12.00-12.30pm
12.30pm Introduce species distribution exercise

Discuss sampling options, vegetation recording methods, abiotic recording methods ( option of exercise to determine optimum quadrat size)

1.00pm Sample dunes / slacks en-route to car park

Arrive car park c. 2.30- 3.00pm

Option: data analysis ( distribution plots, species diversity, correlations), discussion and evaluation at Hallsannery or alternative location
