August 9th Introduction to Family History Research – find out what records are available and how you can find them Patrick Kivlin
Patrick Kivlin, an experienced teacher and genealogist, will go through the various types of record that are used in the research of a family history. This will cover Civil Registration of Births, Marriages and Deaths, census records, church records, wills and probate, estate, military and other records. Although some experience of family history or of internet use would be helpful it is not essential and the day should be suitable for all levels of expertise. It would also be helpful if you can bring any information that you have about your family history as it will then be possible to suggest new approaches.
Patrick has been tracing his own family for many years and has been teaching family history for the past ten years, during which time there has been a huge rise in internet resources available to the genealogist. He also works as a professional genealogist and has clients around the world for whom he works in the record offices of the south west.
