Last week Hallsannery played host to 14 international delegates attending courses led by Bideford-based company, IGI. Staying in our sumptuous ensuite rooms, training in our relaxed reception rooms and eating in the impressive dining room, the delegates were able to enjoy Hallsannery hospitality to the full. Superbly catered for by Leisa and her team from Devon Catering (, the delegates also enjoyed the best of local food at Morans and the Pier House in Westward Ho! – a chance to sample delicious meals whilst admiring the geology the area has to offer!

Here’s a sample of what the delegates had to say…
‘A very calming environment to learn in’
‘Hannah’s done an excellent job with Hallsannery… my room was lovely’
‘The food was very nice indeed – especially the apple crumble and custard!’
‘Amazing location, comfortable rooms and facilities, delicious food’
‘Fantastic venue for corporate event’

Great feedback from all – and I’d definitely second the comments on the crumble and custard!

Sparkle and zingLate last year the lovely people at WED magazine teamed up with some fantastic suppliers to put together a photoshoot at Hallsannery. With models emerging Narnia-like from our antique wardrobes, brides floating down the spiral staircase covered in snow and outdoor sparklers adding festive glitz, our House was transformed into a veritable winter wonderland. Check out the latest WED magazine for the full feature, but in the meantime here’s a sneak preview of some of my favourite shots. IMG_6253Winter bride on spiral staircase

OK, we admit it. It does – very, very occasionally – rain in Devon. And so, for those very occasional drizzly days, we are creating an indoor space to keep folk – young and old – entertained indoors! Complete with pool table, ping pong table, the odd snuggly sofa and sundry games, the Hallsannery games room will provide a hub of activity whilst you’re waiting for the sun to shine again. Action shots to come once it’s all in place…

Think snug-as-a-bug duvets and twinkling views. Think crackling log fires and candle lit feasts. Think winter, think weddings. Think… Hallsannery.

We work hard at Hallsannery to make sure that every wedding, holiday and corporate event is as perfect as it can possibly be. And when you get feedback like this for some truly lovely folk, it makes all that effort all the more worthwhile! We look forward to seeing you again, Annie & co!

“We had a brilliant time. The stunning house, the beautiful grounds, the dramatic colourful autumn weather and your own warmth, welcome and thoughtfulness made Hallsannery a fabulous setting for our family and friends party. I can’t imagine a better place for fun, games, and being together in a relaxed yet stylish way – yummy cream cake on arrival, lilies in the hall, charades, 1920s murder mystery, cocktails, communal cooking, candlelit dining, racing demon, scrabble, indoor crazy golf ( sorry – you may want to leave that out of publicity material – we kept it to the games room – honest!), early morning tea looking out at the views, watching a woodpecker in the trees, cycle rides ( the joy of my 87 year old mum on the cycle wheelchair on The Tarka trail, pedalled by her grandson and grand-daughter’s boyfriend, will never be forgotten by her, ourselves or the bemused fellow cyclists we encountered en route), body boarding at Westward Ho!, walks, log fires, conversations, laughter, sleeping in comfort and luxury….it was all perfect.

Some of my guests, young and old, have said it was perhaps the best weekend of their lives, and that we will look back on it always; for myself it was certainly the best 60th birthday weekend I could possibly have imagined. Thank you so much. And if future guests can outdo us in making the most of Hallsannery, we’ d be very impressed. We are laying down the challenge!”

Since re-opening in April this year, we have hosted some truly beautiful and very different weddings here at Hallsannery.

The brides and grooms have each put their own personal stamp on the venue, be it by using a teepee marquee from World Inspired tents, a transparent marquee from The Transparent Marquee company or by decorating our stunning dining room in their individual way. With croquet on the lawn, the Sorrelli Strings playing under the stairs or a wood-fired hog roast sizzling in the courtyard, there has been plenty of music, food and merriment.

Arriving from church in style or taking their vows here at Hallsannery (and weather permitting, even outside!), the happy couples have enjoyed exclusive use of the House, Coach House and grounds not only for their wedding day but also before and after. We’ve had lots of lovely comments about how well being able to stay together on the Estate works… ‘the beds are so snuggly – where do you get your linen?’, ‘we had time to catch up with everyone and really enjoy our wedding’ and ‘it was such a treat to have breakfast all together on our first married morning’. In fact, many of our guests have ‘threatened’ to move in!

So here are a selection of our favourite pictures – thanks to all the brides and grooms for letting us show off their special days! And pop back for more in the coming weeks… Anyone for croquet?

The summer is almost over and we have had an incredible time here at Hallsannery! With weddings, holidays and corporate events the House and grounds have been full of happy, smiling people and amazingly lots of sun! Stand by for snippets of our glorious weddings and updates about what’s been going on…

Hallsannery House Devon

Since taking over the business in September last year, the Evans’ family – with the help of some truly fantastic architectural and building-type folk – have been working hard to completely refurbish our beautiful Grade 2 listed Manor House, perched high on a hill near the North Devon coast. And now, thanks to the technical prowess of Salt Media, and the photographic genius of Indigo Perspectives (with a few gorgeous additions from other wedding photographers) we are ready to show Hallsannery off.

Whether you’re looking for an exclusive wedding venue with luxurious accommodation, a decadent holiday house for a big group of family or friends, a flexible corporate venue with traditional ‘wow’ factor or a backdrop that oozes elegance for your party or event, Hallsannery could be that stunning ‘blank canvas’ you’ve been looking for.

So, take a seat, take a look around, and if you need to know more, just send us an email or give us a call!
